	 Rendell’s honors follow on the heels of news that
educator Patrick Farley of Crystal Lake Elementary is
among the five finalists for Florida Teacher of the Year
while Trisha Elliott, also of Crystal Lake, is among the
state finalists for Assistant Principal of the Year.
	 “This is a well-deserved achievement for Mr. Rendell,
who inspires students to healthier lifestyles by making
fitness fun,” says Laurie J. Gaylord, superintendent of
the Martin County School District. “He has consistently
distinguished himself with notable honors and awards
throughout his career here and now joins Ms. Elliott and
Mr. Farley in shining the state spotlight on the caliber
of educators we are fortunate to have in our classrooms.
The parents, school board and district staff have the
good fortune of knowing firsthand the talent, dedication,
and creativity of our Martin County teachers – but this
statewide, high-level acknowledgement awakens a much
wider audience to our exceptional educators.”
	 The award selection process examines how physical
education teachers utilize various teaching methodologies
and plan innovative learning experiences, positively
model personal health and fitness, and exhibit sensitivity
to the physical and emotional needs of all students.
	 Rendell has taught in Martin County since 2005,
first at Palm City Elementary and then at Citrus Grove
starting in 2008.
	 Martin County Teacher of the Year in 2012/13, Martin
County Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2012/13 and
Citrus Grove Teacher of the Year in 2011/12, Rendell
also manages several charitable undertakings.
