                                                                                                             Present Mozart’s masterpiece, Don Giovanni at the Kravis

                                                                                                           in Prague 1787, Mozart’s librettist was Lorenzo Da Ponte, a

                                                                                                           After a varied career as washhouse owner and bookstore keeper,
                                                                                                           he became the first professor of Italian Literature at Columbia
                                                                                                           University at 75. Four years later he became an American citizen.
                                                                                                           At 86 he raised $30,000 and built the first all-purpose opera house
                                                                                                           in New York City. Famous for his gourmet dinners he died in
                                                                                                           his Broome Street home at age 89. What a guy!
