Softball 2022
Winter League
The Jupiter Senior Softball Association’s 2022 Winter
League began Jan. 3 with a record number of players
and teams. Teams in the White Division took to the field
at Jupiter Community Park. Teams in the Red and Blue
Divisions are to begin play in subsequent days.
League Commissioner Tom Cosentino said, “We are
looking forward to another fantastic Winter League.”
He said the 180 players competing among 14 teams
is the most ever. Last year there were 158 participants
on 13 teams. Games are every Monday, Wednesday
and Friday morning and will continue through March,
followed by pickup games the remainder of the year.
The softball program is open to persons 55 and
older. Tom Salamone, who turns 55 in February, is
among new players this winter. “It’s been 30 years
since I picked up a bat and I’m glad I’m back,”
Salamone said. He retired last year after a 30-year
career with Pfizer and learned about the senior softball
league through a friend who connected him with
League Commissioner Cosentino. The oldest active
player is Mike Manasia, 89, a pitcher.
The senior softball program is in its third decade
and is a cooperative effort of the nonprofit Jupiter
Senior Softball Association and the Town of Jupiter.
New players are always welcome and registration can
be made online at www.lealguelineup.com/jssa.
