goes for the children battling illnesses,” said Griffith (founder
of Chasin A Dream). “As a community I believe we have a
responsibility to take care of our own and we have the power
to do that.”
Trashy Tutu drew its largest crowd to date and raised over
$8,000 for the local foundation. After cleaning up trash, the
paddlers and friends converged on Tiki 52 Bar and Grill for the
after party and exciting costume contest judged by the Chasin
A Dream children. “We love what Chasin A Dream does for the
children in the community who are so brave and fighting horrible
illnesses. It is an honor to be a part of this incredible event and
to see the smiles on the kids’ faces,” said Anthony Mastrioanni,
owner of Tiki 52. “We have been strong supporters of Chasin
A Dream for several years and to know we are making a direct
difference in the lives of these children is something that is so
personal to all of us.” The night was filled with laughter, music,
great food, raffles, prizes and a silent auction.
Laura Miles, owner of Mermaids and Mimosas has been
coming to Trashy Tutu for years, and stated, “This event is so
important for the environment that we love as water people, but
also for supporting such a great charity. Trashy Tutu was such a
‘mermazing’ time walking around seeing so many new friends,
old friends, and friends I didn’t know until the event. We love
paddling for a cause and supporting great causes.”
