Tutu Clad Paddlers from page 1
Started five years ago by Alex Cotleur, Vivien Bunce, Layna
Moehl and Lori Griffith as a fun way to clean up trash along
Coral Cove, the inaugural event drew about 30 paddlers and has
grown steadily each year to over 150 this year.
“With the increase in boat traffic and the general population,
the trash has steadily been piling up in these popular areas and
we wanted to help clean this area and benefit Chasin A Dream at
the same time, so the idea for the Trashy Tutu was born. We all
care deeply about our environment and the beautiful waterways
of Jupiter that we enjoy and so we knew that by creating a crazy
cleanup we could draw more people, and subsequently introduce
them also to what Chasin A Dream does. We live in such an
incredible place, paradise really, and if we don’t take care of
it and treasure it, we are sure to lose it. The same goes for the
children battling illnesses,” said Griffith (founder of Chasin A
Dream). “As a community I believe we have a responsibility to
take care of our own and we have the power to do that.”
Trashy Tutu drew its largest crowd to date and raised over
$8,000 for the local foundation. After cleaning up trash, the
paddlers and friends converged on Tiki 52 Bar and Grill for the
after party and exciting costume contest judged by the Chasin
A Dream children. “We love what Chasin A Dream does for the
children in the community who are so brave and fighting horrible
illnesses. It is an honor to be a part of this incredible event and
to see the smiles on the kids’ faces,” said Anthony Mastrioanni,
owner of Tiki 52. “We have been strong supporters of Chasin our donors are assisting. We believe in local businesses/people Chasin A Dream stepped in and really took a large burden off of
