Nominees Announced For Junior League Of Boca Raton’s
35th Annual Woman Volunteer Of The Year Luncheon
The Junior League of Boca Raton (JLBR) has announced
the 36 local women who have been nominated for the 35th
Annual Woman Volunteer of the Year. Nonprofits from across
South Florida have nominated one of their top volunteers to
be considered for Woman Volunteer of the Year. The award
recipient will be named at the annual luncheon on Friday,
Nov. 4 at Boca West Country Club.
The nominees for Woman Volunteer of the Year
are: Tracy Lautomne, SOS Children’s Villages Florida;
Carly Yoost, Child Rescue Coalition; Dr. Sarah Lochner,
Boca Helping Hands; Nancy Hooker, Caridad Center;

The Woman Volunteer of the Year Committee members
include Darina Bowerman, Mindi Brown, Donna Capparelli,

Her work and community efforts have been recognized
by receiving the Soroptimist Woman of Distinction in
Finance Award, St. Jude’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Award, the Outstanding Philanthropist, the Leadership
Award, and the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary
International, as well as being inducted into the University
of Central Florida’s Business Hall of Fame.
Kathy and her husband Ron have been awarded the
NSU President’s Community Service Award and have been
named Outstanding Philanthropists by both Palm Beach
County and Broward County. Buildings are named in the
Assafs’ honor at Saint Andrew’s School and Lynn University,
as well as the Center for Nursing Excellence at Boca Raton
Regional Hospital. In 2018, the College of Nursing at NSU
was named for the Assafs. The Assafs and their children have
been recognized and commended by the Latin Patriarch of
Jerusalem as founders of the Home for the Aged and Special
Needs Children in Taybeh, West Bank.
