      Cardinal Newman High School Celebrates



      Athlete Alumni And The Crusader Club


      Reception Honored Athletes

      At E.R. Bradley’s In West

      Palm Beach

        On Aug. 18, Cardinal Newman High School (CNHS)
      honored athlete alumni and celebrated the recent formation of
      The Crusader Club at E.R. Bradley’s in West Palm Beach. Over
      60 alumni of all ages attended the reception. The Crusader
      Club, led by Chair Dave McIntosh ’64 and 21 board of
      directors, was founded to connect athlete alumni and support

      60-year history of providing a Catholic college preparatory
      education in Palm Beach County. The legendary coach and
      The Crusader Club Honorary Chair Sam Budnyk attended
      and spoke in support of the school and The Crusader Club.
      Budnyk served Cardinal Newman High School for 49 years.
      He was the school’s first football coach and coached boys
      basketball, track, girls softball, and boys and girls golf.
        “I am grateful to Dave McIntosh for his initiative and
      enthusiasm along with the wonderful work of his committee,”
      states President Brother Thomas Zoppo. “We have always
      taken pride in our athletic accomplishments. The Crusader
      Club serves to acknowledge Cardinal Newman’s remarkable

        The Crusader Club is committed to its motto: “Honor
      the Past, Celebrate the Present and Secure the Future”
      of athletics by encouraging athlete alumni to attend and
      support CNHS athletic, academic and extra-curricular
      initiatives, endeavors, and activities. Jeff Newkirk ‘79, The
      Crusader Club’s first CEO, is assisted by Committee Chairs:
      the Hon. Jeff Atwater ‘76, Ramona Saridakis Bean ‘96, Tom
      Flynn ‘75, and Alonzo Jefferson ‘83. Other board members
