      evening news it’s mostly
      bad news. Then a neighbor
feels called upon to tell me
who died. I find my mail is
      replete with pleas to help
      people who are sick with
      incurable diseases. Some
I help, some I throw in the
garbage, but they never give up. A week or two later they’re
back with greeting cards or labels, so I feel bad for having
ignored them and I donate and the cycle starts again.
I want some good news, but as far as the daily television
programs are concerned, only bad news, wars, killings,
tornadoes, plane crashes are what they offer, including
commercials. So where can I turn to find some smiles? I’d
like some and I really could use some. When I wake up each
morning it’s like I have a clean slate. I want to reach out to
friendly people who have optimistic points of view. The ones
who are imbued with attitudes that the world is coming to
an end would do me a favor and pass me by.
I don’t know who the next president will be, but that’s
well over a year away, so right now I’m concerned about
what I’m making for dinner, better yet I think I’ll go out to
eat, preferably with a cheery soul.
So, think about it. Are you going through this world with From left to right; The Palm Beach Fire Rescue Station 56. Firefighter Paramedic Renaud Felix, Firefighter EMT

to make conversation and they really don’t want to hear about
your aches and pains, they have enough of their own. So,
cheer them up with a smile and a “Thank you for asking.”
      You’ll both feel better.
There are real troubles in the world but refusing to smile
even at the lighter times dampens everything and doesn’t
make you fun to be around. C’mon, show that bright smile
you’ve been hiding, and you’ll find that every day is not
cloudy, in fact, look up, the sun is shining. Enjoy it!
