Despite the ominous weather forecast,
more than 400 people were in attendance.
The event featured popular Jewish rock
‘n roll band Pardes Rock and began with
a full menu of hotdogs, sliders, chicken
skewers, latkes, donuts, and an open
bar. The large group of children were As the sun was setting to usher in the holiday, Mayor

artists, bounce house and slides, and giant Beach Gardens Police and Fire departments, followed by
Jenga, Lego, and Connect Four games as the Pledge of Allegiance, national anthem, and Jerusalem of
well as Chanukah arts and crafts. Gold. Rabbi Dovid and Chana Vigler spoke about Chanukah
being the only Jewish holiday in which we didn’t need to
fight for our lives, but for our values. He said that in the
Chanukah story, the ancient Greeks didn’t attack the Jews,
they attacked Judaism. Chanukah celebrates our ability to
fight for what we believe in and to have the courage of our
convictions. He pointed out the great symbolism of being able
to celebrate this festival with the support and encouragement
of our elected officials and not despite them, as it was in the
original Chanukah story 2200 years ago. Councilman Matt
Lane spoke about the importance of the Jewish community
uniting as one at this special event.
Rebbetzin Chana Vigler called all the children, the
Jewish leaders of tomorrow, onto the stage for the menorah
lighting, which was conducted by Rabbi Leibel Krinsky.
Council Members Matt Lane and Vice Mayor Rochelle Litt
were honored with lighting the giant menorahs. Immediately
following the ceremony, the crowd broke out into joyous
dancing in celebration of our freedoms and gratitude to G-d
Almighty for the miracles that He has showered upon us,
back then in the Chanukah story and today as well.
This exciting event held the children’s spellbound
attention as they anxiously waited to hear the judge’s
decisions of the winners of the Menorah Making Contest.
Dozens of handcrafted menorahs lined the display tables
as the six judges awarded the cash prizes to Sholom Vigler,
Natalie and Maya Vidal, and Zemi Krinsky.
