Chief’s Corner
Dear Resident,
Distracted driving is
one of the fastest growing
traffic safety issues
nationwide. We have
recently partnered with
the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) to
participate in the Distracted
Driving Enforcement
Campaign.
Now through September
2020, as part of this campaign, officers will be conducting
additional education and enforcement to remind drivers on
the dangers of distracted driving; especially texting while
driving.
As a reminder, effective Jan. 1, motorists can be issued a
citation for not using a device in a hands-free manner.
For everyone’s safety, please put the phone down and
focus on driving. Our goal is to continue to ensure the safety
of the motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists who utilize our
roadways.
