                                                                                                              Distracted driving is
                                                                                                            one of the fastest growing
                                                                                                            traffic safety issues
                                                                                                            nationwide. We  have
                                                                                                            recently partnered with
                                                                                                            the Florida Department of
                                                                                                            Transportation (FDOT) to
                                                                                                            participate in the Distracted
                                                                                                            Driving  Enforcement
                                                                                                            Campaign.
                                                                                                              Now through September
                                                                                                            2020, as part of this campaign, officers will be conducting
                                                                                                            additional education and enforcement to remind drivers on
                                                                                                            the dangers of distracted driving; especially texting while
                                                                                                            driving.
                                                                                                              As a reminder, effective Jan. 1, motorists can be issued a
                                                                                                            citation for not using a device in a hands-free manner.
                                                                                                              For everyone’s safety, please put the phone down and
                                                                                                            focus on driving. Our goal is to continue to ensure the safety
                                                                                                            of the motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists who utilize our
                                                                                                            roadways.
