brought their affinity for the arts to the Lighthouse
ArtCenter through various art forms: painting, drawing,
glassworks and music. The couple’s Peace + Love 2020
Exhibition opened fittingly on Valentine’s Day, with an
opening reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse
ArtCenter Gallery. Tickets were $5 per person at the door
or free to Lighthouse ArtCenter members. In conjunction
with the exhibition, Jason Newsted performed in two
benefit concerts. The first concert by Jason Newsted and
the Chophouse Band took place on Saturday, Feb. 15 and
a second acoustic performance by Jason Newsted and
friends was on Saturday, Feb. 29. Both concerts were Jason Newsted, Nicole Newsted Gabrielle Fazio, Katherine Shattow Jordan Weber, Allie Snyder, Maria Tritico
at the gallery from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Proceeds from the
exhibition and concerts raised over $23,000, benefiting
the “Raising the Roof” Capital Campaign to add a much
needed second floor and five additional classrooms to
the gallery building. Tickets were $10 per person for the
      benefit concerts.
“Once again, Jason and Nicole are front and center to
support our efforts to literally raise the roof of our gallery
building. The additional space will allow more classrooms
for new programs, such as art therapy for veterans,” said
Nancy Politsch, CEO of the Lighthouse ArtCenter. “We are
so thankful for Jason and Nicole’s support. We received
outstanding feedback from our guests expressing how Marta Newsted, Greg Lydianne Carreras, Katherine
much they enjoyed the art and concerts.” Vince Palumbo, Anne Palumbo, Kathy Alla, Charlie Alla Newsted Shattow, Nicole Newsted
Guest and local resident Wendy Stahl stated, “While
called a ‘fundraiser,’ I think the concerts went way beyond WATER VIEW: Sugar Sands on Singer Island
that and actually created a community connection. I’m
not an artist, but I appreciate art, and now adore the
Lighthouse ArtCenter because you created a community
      feeling of the best kind.”
Peace + Love 2020 exhibited the talented Nicole
Newsted’s brightly colored and whimsical paintings,
filling three of the galleries with her brilliant work.
Legendary rock musician and multimedia artist Jason
Newsted showed large and small-scale works in the
main gallery, inspired by years spent on the road with
Metallica. The Chophouse Band, led by Newsted on
guitar and lead vocal, performed original and classic
Americana selections. Guests enjoyed this once-in-a-
lifetime exhibition and Newsted’s adventurous musical
stylings surrounded by the couple’s art.
