PBGGC Changes Meeting Times
And Learns About Green Schools And District X
The Palm Beach Gardens Garden Club (PBGGC)
has made some important changes to encourage the
attendance of more members by having their meetings
in the morning. Starting in October, they will meet at the
Gardens Branch of the Palm Beach County Library from
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
In early March the club heard speaker Tim Hadsell
discuss his association with the green schools of Palm
Beach County and several new ways of growing fruits
and vegetables at these schools. A green school also
grows bamboo, butterfly gardens, and raises tilapia in a
fish garden. Using aquaponics for pineapples and cherry
tomatoes, solar to pump water to the plants two times
a day, and raised beds for their other plants, only grow
edible plants. The students eat what they grow, but surplus
food goes to soup kitchens.
Carol Coleman, District X director, attended the March
meeting and spoke after Hadsell left. She answered District X also sponsored the Flower Show Judges Council, Across the table from speaker Hadsell are Marion Fischer,
