Friends Of Jupiter Beach
August Modified Beach Cleanup
Article and photos by Penny Sheltz
Friends of Jupiter Beach (FJB) usually have their monthly
beach cleanup on the first Saturday of each month, but the
Pavilion on Marcinski was still closed in August so the beach
cleanup was modified and there was no breakfast.
FJB has an agreement with the Town of Jupiter to keep
the beach clean and a portion of the beach can be used by
dog owners with their dogs unleashed, as long as owners are
responsible for their well-behaved dogs. FJB provides bags
for owners to pick up their dog’s droppings.
At the latest modified cleanup, 61 volunteers divided into
teams to clean the beach and retrieved 310 pounds with 165
pounds for recycling.
At the monthly drawing Cindy Davis is the raffle winner.
Volunteers and FJB members are celebrating the 25th
anniversary of keeping Jupiter Beach clean and dog-friendly.
