      Massachusetts – on July 4th, 1826 ... as America celebrated
      the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of
      Independence! Unaware of what had taken place hundreds
      of miles south of him, Adams’s last words were, “Thomas
      Jefferson survives!”
         But what makes this book so extraordinarily fascinating,
      and one of the most impressive works of history I have
      ever read, is the way in which its Pulitzer Prize-winning
