        Brother Thomas Zoppo, FSC, was appointed as president
      in July 2020. A De La Salle Christian, he has over 35 years of
      administrative experience. He holds degrees from Villanova
      University and Manhattan College and has completed
      additional studies at Boston College, the University of Notre
      Dame, and the State University of New York. As president,
      Br. Thomas is the chief administrator of Cardinal Newman                                                         747-PALM
      and provides the leadership and oversight necessary to ensure
      that the school fulfills its mission.                                                                                  747-7256
        On his appointment at Cardinal Newman, Br. Thomas
      stated: “It is my distinct honor and privilege to be part
      of this wonderful educational community at this exciting
      time in Newman’s history. I am eager to help oversee our
      essential mission of developing faith, collaboration and
      accountability as well as nurturing the talents of each student,
      inspiring a sense of responsibility for others, underscoring
      the importance of embracing diversity, and encouraging the
      need to compassionately respond to the needs of others,
      especially the marginalized.”
        Principal Marikay “Katie” Gomez Kervi graduated from
      Cardinal Newman in 1999. She earned her undergraduate
      degree from the University of South Carolina and Master of
      Science in Education from Walden University. She returned
      to Cardinal Newman in 2005 and held positions as speech and
      journalism teacher, registrar, and dean of students. Since 2013,
      she has served as principal of St. Juliana Catholic School.
        “It has always been a professional goal of mine to end
      up back at Cardinal Newman. I have so much to give back
      to this school that helped form me in so many ways. As a
      teenager, an adult, a teacher and an administrator Cardinal
      Newman has been my foundation,” states Kervi.
