Ted’s wife Juanita and sons, Greg and Chip, and
grandsons, Nick and Dan, and family friend Janet Hope
attended the event. Ted, a longtime softball player and
Association member, died April 19, 2020 after battling
cancer. After the unveiling of the plaque mounted in the JSSA
display case League Commissioner Tom Cosentino said:
“Ted set the standard when it came to competition,
sportsmanship, and friendship,” and added, “This plaque
will hang in his honor and keep his memory alive with all of
us. We miss him and we will never forget him.” The plaque’s
first brass nameplate has the inscription “Ted Battistone,
2020,” the year the Hall of Fame was established.
After the dedication, Cosentino presented Juanita with
a framed copy of Ted’s obituary that was published in the
Senior Softball USA Newsletter to honor Ted. Juanita
thanked the Softball Association saying that playing softball
was Ted’s first love and “was such a joy in all of our lives.”

days before Ted’s passing last year and he learned of his
