Irish Fest Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day
Report and photos by Penny Sheltz
Jupiter Irish Fest was a full day of authentic Irish music,
food, drinks, dancing and fun at Abacoa!
The Palm Beach County Pipes and Drums and firefighters
opened the event. Hundreds of residents and guests celebrated
the Irish at Abacoa by sampling traditional Irish cuisine like
shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, Irish stew, boxty,
coddle, colcannon and more.
Folks also enjoyed fine Irish whiskey like Jameson and
shared a few pints of Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s with
friends and family!
Entertainment was provided by live bands from Ireland,
along with Irish dancers, and Palm Beach County Pipes and
Drums. Some folks even tested their skills at the game of
hurling or learned how to pull your own pint! There was a
dress contest for kids and adults alike to win prizes. One lucky
family won a trip to Ireland and many entered the 50/50 raffle
benefiting the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. The event ran
from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
