In announcing the Hall of Fame selection, Association
President Tom Cosentino said, “Mike’s selection is a
well-deserved honor for his many years of dedication to
the league. The Jupiter Senior Softball program’s profile
in the community has risen and resulted in many new
players being recruited because of his efforts.”
Upon learning of his selection for the Hall of Fame,
Mike said he was surprised and honored to be chosen.
“I’ve received much more than I’ve given to the league.
It has enriched my life in so many ways. Foremost among
them is the camaraderie and friendships I’ve enjoyed
with so many wonderful teammates.” Also, “The Town of
Jupiter’s commitment and cooperation have been crucial
to the success of the program, and for that I know that all
JSSA members are most appreciative.”
Richmond is a retired journalist who, after his
newspaper career, served on the staffs of two U.S.
congresswomen’s San Diego offices. He and his wife
Alice are parents of a blended family of six grown
children and two grandchildren.
The year-round slow-pitch senior softball activity is
open to persons 55 and over. New players are being sought
to help fill pick-up games that are held every Monday,
Wednesday and Friday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m.
