the world, alongside St. Andrews, Pine Valley, Pebble Beach
and Pinehurst. Michael Sneider will chair the golf challenge.
The cost per golfer is $650 with the majority of the fee
going directly to more than 30 participating local children’s
charities. In addition to the funds raised through participating
golfers, charities will vie for a portion of the $100,000 funds
awarded during the tournament. Each charity will receive
between $2,000 and $10,000, depending on its team’s
placement. Over the past 11 years, the foundation has granted
more than $13 million for projects that serve at-risk youth.
“Participants always enjoy the golf tournament and
awards dinner,” said Pamela Weinroth, executive director
of Boca West Children’s Foundation. “And the funds raised
make a real difference for more than 30 charities who need
our help.”
New this year is a program with Callaway Golf in which
each participant receives a $150 gift certificate to shop their
store. For every dollar spent over the $150, 30 percent will
be donated to Boca West Children’s Foundation. Participant
Scott Boilen, on learning of the Callaway program, said,
“These added funds are so great for the kids … I’m going
to stock up for the year for all my golf equipment, balls and
apparel needs.”
The event, taking place at Boca West Country Club,
20583 Boca West Drive, Boca Raton, begins at 11 a.m. for
registration and brunch with golf play at 1 p.m. The golf
challenge will be followed by a cocktail reception, awards
ceremony and live auction. The ticket also includes one of
the ducks that will be dropped from a crane for a chance to
win $2,500. Additional individual ducks for the drop are $50.
