in March of 2020, we had
to make the very difficult Colleen Smith, artistic and
decision to furlough all our executive director, Ballet
dancers and staff. This was Palm Beach
      a heartbreaking decision
made after much number crunching and many sleepless
nights. During this downtime some dancers rehearsed at
home and some taught virtual classes. Others learned new
skills and even had babies. But they all lost the work they
      were so passionate about.
Ballet Palm Beach had to completely cancel the
2020/21 season of performances, losing all the income
from those four performance runs, including our most
lucrative performance, The Nutcracker, at the Kravis
Center for Performing Arts. For any ballet company, this
is the one performance that makes the rest of the season
financially possible. We also had to cancel our major
      fundraising event.
As we opened our 2021/22 season of dance, we
were forced to move our debut production of Peter
Pan and Tinker Bell from October 2021 to April 2022
due to ongoing COVID restrictions. Many other arts
organizations had to make these same agonizing decisions.
However, at Ballet Palm Beach we are optimistic that
we can remain on sound financial footing with the help of
patrons like you. During this season of giving, we hope you
will open your hearts to local arts organizations and assist
them in keeping their doors open and their curtains up.
If you would like to support Ballet Palm Beach, please
go to www.balletpalmbeach.org or call (561) 630-8235 to
purchase tickets to The Nutcracker on Dec. 4 and 5 at the
Kravis Center or tickets to our annual gala being held on
Jan. 27, 2022 at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. You
may also simply donate if you are so moved. If you are
considering supporting other arts organizations in our area,
please consider doing it now at a time when any ticket
purchase or donation can make such a significant difference
in recovering from the devastation of COVID-19.
