always point them in the direction of the beautiful country
that straddles both the Caribbean and Pacific. Costa
Rica means “rich coast” in Spanish, which makes sense
because it is very well known for not only its beaches but
its magnificent volcanoes! The biodiversity you will find
in this jungle (roughly one-fourth of the country is made
up of it) will provide you the opportunity to get up close
and personal with spider monkeys and tropical birds.
Your Road Map
San Jose. Chances are you will fly into the bustling
capital city of San Jose. There is plenty to see and do
here, most notably the city has some wonderful museums
(especially the Gold Museum), and some of the best
nightlife. Stop at the Central Market, which opened in
1880, for some souvenirs or yummy traditional food. This
is a great opportunity to mingle with the locals.
If you are a coffee lover, I highly recommend taking a
coffee plantation tour. Costa Rica is known for producing
some of the best coffee, 100 percent of which is arabica
beans. Britt Coffee Tour right outside of San Jose is a
working coffee plantation and roastery offering an inside
look into the journey of true gourmet coffee, from a red
cherry to that irresistible brew you sip each morning.
Monteverde. Heading to the Northwest, you will find
