Jupiter Senior Softball
This past April, Tim Lavery, 66, saw an insert in his water
bill about the Jupiter Senior Softball program and decided
to sign up. “I hadn’t played softball, or any ball, in 20
years,” he said. Since then he’s been playing in games three
mornings a week and said he’s enjoying the camaraderie of
fellow players and being outdoors and exercising.
For Dave Jakubiak, 62, who began playing in the fall
of 2021, the motivation has been a combination of meeting
and making new friends, getting good exercise “and playing
a game you love.” The year-round slow-pitch softball
program is open to persons 55 and older and more players
are welcome, said League Commissioner Paul Storch.
“It’s a fantastic way to spend two or so hours a morning three
days a week,” Storch said. Games are every Monday, Wednesday
and Friday mornings at Jupiter Community Park, 3377 Church
Street, beginning with batting practice at 8:30 a.m.
The senior softball program is sponsored by
