Riverside Memorial Park News
Established in 1915, this sprawling, 34-acre burial place
for more than 20,000 people is one of the oldest cemeteries
in the area. When the cemetery was established it was called
the Jupiter Cemetery and was originally considered to be
part of Dade County. The only way to reach the cemetery
was by boat from the Loxahatchee River and down a shell
pathway called Cemetery Road. It wasn’t until 1925 that
Martin County was created and the road was renamed to what
we now know as County Line Road. Along with Jupiter and
Tequesta’s prominent pioneer families, it contains the final
resting places of a Confederate soldier dating back to 1908, an
estimated 2,500 veterans including three Civil War veterans,
quite a few notoriously famous names and the sadly forgotten
