hospitals, and private homes, she provided each child with a
new identity, carefully recording in code their original names
and placements so surviving relatives could find them after
the war. Arrested by the Gestapo in the fall of 1943, she
was tortured and sentenced to death, but was rescued by the
Polish underground before her execution. For her courageous
actions during the Holocaust, in 1965 Israel’s Yad Vashem
honored her as Righteous Among the Nations. Sendler died
in Warsaw in 2008.
May all who perished in the Holocaust be remembered
for blessing.

Purim Dinner & Dance

Purim at Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens is always a
fun celebration. This year’s theme was Uniting the Nation:
International Purim — Around the World, in celebration of the
Year of Hakhel — Gathering, when all of the Jewish nations
would gather at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem during biblical
times. Members and friends came in costumes from every
country and region as they showed off their personalities in
the festive Purim spirit.
The Purim Dinner & Dance began with Megillah &
Masquerade where the many presented their costume on the
red carpet. Each child received
a prize and a medal for their
efforts. This was followed by
the traditional reading of the
Megillah by Rabbi Dovid Vigler.
He prefaced the reading with
Purim meditations to make the
Megillah more meaningful to the
listeners.
The large crowd then went
outdoors to the beautiful Garden
of Chabad, where the festive
spirit continued with themed food
stations that included Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Israeli, and
American food. Dr. Laz & the Cure played classic Jewish
and Israeli songs as well as popular songs from the sixties
and seventies with a Jewish twist.
