More than three dozen persons packed Lombardo’s
home in the Bluffs to wish him well. Others sent cards
and letters or called. Since having brain cancer surgery
in May, Lombardo, 81, has been undergoing radiation
and chemotherapy treatment to keep the cancer at bay.
Before health problems sidelined him, he had been active
as a player, coach, manager, mentor and member of the
Jupiter Senior Softball Association (JSSA) for 23 years.
The games are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
morning at Jupiter Community Park.
“Vinnie has been a mainstay of Jupiter Senior Softball
and his leadership is without question. He is a friend to
all,” said teammate and JSSA board member Scott Logan.
Another teammate, Duke Barwick, said, “He was the one
