epitome of impertinence. It is said to be an expression of
independence. The dark rainy winters and extremely high

are usually disarmed by sincerity. You may also find that
even when you are laughed at by the locals for trying to use
their language, you’ll get along better and perhaps may get
to the point where you understand each other’s verbal and
sign language. I made a friend out of a taxi driver when I
explained to him that another name for a hot dog was a “tube

The artist colony at Montmartre, believed to be a separate-
community from Paris, is a must for anyone who appreciates
art. Many artists have lived in this area and felt its influences
in their work. Painters like Toulouse-Lautrec, Utrillo, Piscasso
and Matisse along with poet Guillaume Apollinaire and pianist
Erik Satie enjoyed this hilltop that allowed them to think freely,
making it the happiest place for an artist to live.
For those of you who have a “bucket list” and don’t have a
trip to Paris on the list, I would highly recommend doing so.
