Men’s Health Day
Event Is Wed., December 11
Over the last seven years, the Frenchman’s Creek
community has raised $1,945,000 for Jupiter Medical
Center through Men’s Health Day.
Jupiter Medical Center’s Frenchman’s Creek Digestive
Health Center offers patients a timely diagnosis of their
condition as well as individualized, ongoing care for the
entire continuum of gastrointestinal disease.
The renovated Frenchman’s Creek Digestive Health
Center, located on the second floor of the main tower at
Jupiter Medical Center, was made possible by the generous
philanthropic support of the Frenchman’s Creek Men’s
Health Day.
March 19, 2018, Jupiter Medical Center Foundation
announced a $1.5 million gift from the Frenchman’s Creek
Men’s Health Day Golf Tournament to support the Anderson
Family Cancer Institute at Jupiter Medical Center.
The Center for Excellence in Digestive Health at Jupiter
Medical Center offers a variety of treatments for a number
of digestive disorders.
The Frenchman’s Creek Men’s Health Day event,
organized by a committee of members from Frenchman’s
Creek Beach and Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens,
has donated the proceeds from its annual golf tournament
to Jupiter Medical Center.
“We have tremendous support within the community for
Jupiter Medical Center. It’s a great hospital, and we’re just
delighted to be associated with it,” said Bernie Herman,
cochair of the Men’s Health Day Committee.
“The event started 10 years ago because one of our
members, Steve Weinberg, suggested that we do something
for men’s health and, more specifically, for prostate
cancer. The first two years we supported Johns Hopkins in
Baltimore. After that, we considered it more appropriate
to support the local hospital. We really came to believe in
the mission that Jupiter Medical Center had established
and the seriousness with which they dealt with medicine
in our region,” added Steve Weinberg, the event’s founder
and cochair.
The Men’s Health Day Golf Tournament, which now
brings in more than $350,000 annually, pledged $1.5
million to the Anderson Family Cancer Institute.
“Every year, we’ve been more successful than the year
before. Hopefully, that trend will continue,” said Herman,
who has cochaired the event since its founding with fellow
committee members Weinberg and Richard Fleisher.
A few years ago, according to Weinberg, the committee
began making multiyear commitments to support Jupiter
Medical Center’s ambitious strategic projects such as the
Anderson Family Cancer Institute. Frenchman’s Creek’s
previous multiyear commitments have gone toward the
creation of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and
the Frenchman’s Creek Center for Digestive Excellence,
which opened last spring.
“There’s an old cliché that says you can’t have a strong
community without a strong hospital,” said Weinberg.
“We think Jupiter Medical Center is that strong hospital.
They’re the real deal, and we’re happy to partner with
them.”
The Frenchman’s Creek Men’s Health Day Golf
Tournament will continue to help Jupiter Medical Center
advance its excellence in cancer care.
