Throughout the United States, there are tens of thousands of current and future Major League All-Stars throughout the

Miami Marlins moved into the complex as the Expos shifted
their spring operations to Viera, Fla.
For the past 17 seasons, The St. Louis Cardinals and Miami
Marlins have both used Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium’s
complex to house their spring training workouts in addition to
their Florida State League, and Gulf Coast League teams.
From February through late March, there are no off days at
the stadium. In 30 days, 30 spring training games are held with
over 11 different teams, including the two hosts, taking Roger
Dean Chevrolet Stadium’s field during spring training.
When the Major League teams depart for their respective
regular season homes following spring training, the Jupiter
Hammerheads and Palm Beach Cardinals, Advanced-A affiliates
of the Marlins and Cardinals, begin their regular season play.
From opening day on April 9 until the season finale on Sept. 6,
there are 140 Florida State League games scheduled in 150 days.
In addition, both Major League clubs each have an affiliate in
the Gulf Coast League that play 28 home games on Roger Dean
Chevrolet Stadium’s backfields from June through September.
That marks a grand total of 226 professional baseball games
that are scheduled to be played at the complex in just 197 days,
from Feb. 22 through Sept. 6 in 2020.
Chief’s Corner
Dear Resident,
Traffic safety and
enforcement continues to
be one of the top priorities
for the Jupiter Police
Department. In 2018, in
an effort to decrease the
number of traffic crashes
and related injuries and
fatalities, the department
was able to fully staff the
Traffic Unit.
The Traffic Unit’s main objective is to provide education
and awareness to motorists on safe traffic laws and conduct
enforcement in target locations that have been identified as
high crash locations. A traffic grant was also applied for and
received for education and enforcement related to pedestrian
and bicycle accidents.
As a result of this enforcement, I am happy to report
that after evaluation and analysis of traffic crash data from
2019 compared to 2018, crashes decreased by 9.5 percent
which equals 209 less traffic crashes that occurred within the
Town of Jupiter. In addition, these enforcement efforts have
contributed to a decrease in the number of pedestrian and bike
related injuries. There was a 21 percent decrease in injuries
from 2017 to 2018 and a 31 percent decrease in injuries from
2018 to 2019.
We are committed to your safety when utilizing our
roadways; and our goal is to be visible throughout the
community, so that we can continue to see a decrease in traffic
related crashes.
Please continue to visit us on our website at www.jupiter.
fl.us/jpd, and on Facebook @JupiterPolice to learn about new
and happening events within the Town of Jupiter.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Kerr, Chief of Police
