Holiday Toy Giveaway
By Jackie Holfelder
Elev8Hope made the holidays much
happier for hundreds of Martin County
children at the nonprofit’s free holiday toy
giveaway.
In spite of the financial impact many
have dealt with due to the ongoing
pandemic, Elev8Hope’s “angels” were
more generous than ever before.
Some 147 bikes found new owners,
6,400 gaily wrapped toys wound up in
eager little hands and – all-in-all – 1,400 Rina Shpiruk, CEO of Elev8Hope

147 bikes were given away.
This free event with Santa is a tradition for Martin
County youth and this year more than ever they were
eager to participate.
After months of their being separated from friends
due to COVID-19 restrictions, Elev8Hope knew that the
excited kids would be anxious to see their buddies.
Nevertheless, volunteers and board members of the
501(c)(3) were able to put on an event that followed strict
safety guidelines without sacrificing holiday fun.
In spite of the many cancellations that have abounded
this year, Elev8Hope knew it could stage a “seminormal”
event in a socially-distanced way.
Food was provided by Sonny’s BBQ. M.E’s team was
on-site to provide free underwear and socks to all and
Caring Children Clothing Children’s mobile van was
filled with new clothes for the kids.
Tony Solomon provided music entertainment and Dr.
Children received 6,400 toys. Volunteers from Martin County Sheriff Office and Elev8Hope Justin Madigan, D.C., was Santa.
Elev8Hope is a boots-on-the-ground nonprofit that
adds light to Martin County, using compassion as the
