not be the best way to pick
a real estate agent.
What most people don’t know is that when they use Internet
sites, they are a “product.” In real estate, the “product” is the
person looking for a real estate agent or home. The “product”
is then sold to real estate agents. In other words, the buyer or
seller is the “product” and real estate agents are the “customer.”
For example, Sally Seller is looking for an agent to sell her
home. She does an Internet search and several sites pop up that
promise to get her the best agent for the job. She clicks on one
site and boom, the perfect agent is recommended.
At the same time, the “perfect agent” gets a text telling
them that Sally Seller wants an agent to sell her home. The
agent is given all of Sally’s information.
Did Sally really get the best agent for the job? No, instead
she got the agent that was willing to pay for her information.

The same thing happens when Bob Buyer finds a home he
likes. When he clicks on the home to get more information,
he is asked for basic information. That information is then
immediately sold to a real estate agent willing to pay for Bob’s
information. Like Sally, Bob is the “product” being sold.
Unfortunately both Bob and Sally may end up with a real

is because these sites don’t match agents up with consumer
needs. They simply match them up with some agent willing
