We are always where we need to be;
we have exactly what we need and
what we don’t have, we simply don’t need!
The event also featured a mahjong and
canasta card party. Every half hour raffles
were drawn awarding prizes to excited
participants. At 5 p.m., golfers and card
players congregated for a sunset cocktail
party overlooking the golf course. The
drinks flowed freely accompanied by a
variety of kosher delicacies in an open tent
on the Club Terrace.
At the Awards Dinner, Rabbi Vigler
spoke about the importance of giving a
child the gift of an education. He told the
story of his horseback tour of Lesotho,
where little boys and girls came running over to the riders
asking not for food or money but for pencils. Without pencils
they could not be accepted into school and would be unable
to receive an education. Like the children of Lesotho, 92
percent of the 22,000 Jewish children in the Palm Beaches
receive no Jewish education at all.
Thanks to the efforts of Elaine Collins and the rest of
the Golf Committee, all 500 raffle tickets were sold. The
$10,000 cash raffle was won by Lauren Gross, who promptly
announced that she would donate the entire amount back to
the Chabad for Hebrew school scholarships on condition that JFS Receives $16.4 Million
we could raise another 10 scholarships to match hers. Within
a few minutes, 39 Hebrew school scholarships were donated! from the Holocaust
Claims Conference
