      Beth David’s PJ Shabbat                           fun? Well, attending in a
                                                        favorite pair of pajamas,
      and Little Smiles                                 of course! At least that’s
                                                        what Temple  Beth
         What could possibly make being at Friday evening Shabbat   David’s toddlers, tots,
      services more comfortable and welcoming, warmer and more   and many of their parents
                                                        thought, as  families
                                                        showed up together to
                                                        support and enjoy each
                                                        other, cozy and comfy at
                                                        Beth David’s most recent
                                                        PJ Shabbat.
                                                           Several  times  each
                                                        year, Temple Beth David
                                                        hosts a special family PJ
                                                        Shabbat. Its sanctuary is
                                                        filled with song, prayer, and laughter as the congregation’s
                                                        spiritual leader, Cantor Danielle Bensimhon, along with Pre-
                                                        School Director Jenny Fenton, lead the children in harmony,
                                                        dance, and play. Exuberant sing-alongs were followed by

























                                                                                                           story time, and the group settled in to listen intently.The
                                                                                                           crowd then helped Cantor Danielle, with the use of stuffed
                                                                                                           toys, “light” the Shabbat candles and chant the blessings over
                                                                                                           wine and bread.
                                                                                                              This fun-filled evening culminated in a festive,
                                                                                                           complimentary pasta dinner provided for the children,
                                                                                                           parents, and congregants in attendance, and then followed
                                                                                                           by Beth David’s customary Kabbalat Shabbat service.
                                                                                                              This most recent PJ Shabbat kicked off a two-week
                                                                                                           drive by Temple Beth David to collect pajamas in all sizes
                                                                                                           for Little Smiles, a non-profit organization in Palm Beach
                                                                                                           Gardens that works with social workers, firefighters, nurses,
                                                                                                           and other first-responders to provide much-needed clothing
                                                                                                           and toys to children who must spend time in hospitals or who
                                                                                                           are in temporary homes. Little Smiles does indeed literally
                                                                                                           bring smiles and happiness to children who “simply want the
                                                                                                           chance to be kids.”
