      Bill Gates: “I Wonder
What it Must Feel Like to

      Own Something that Money
      Can’t Buy”

Friday Night LIVE at Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens
recently welcomed Fortune 500 motivational speaker Kivi
Bernhard, who spoke about being an observant Jew in a world
that seems hostile to our values. Originally hailing from
Johannesburg, South Africa, Kivi is a highly sought-after
speaker at the conferences of the world’s most successful Celebrate Passover
companies. Drawing from his experience in the African
bush, he teaches an approach to business that he terms with Beth Torah
“Leopardology,” which inspires people in the corporate world
to learn how to hunt from one of nature’s most efficient and Temple Beth Torah Sisterhood is once again gathering for
deadly predators. its annual Women’s Seder on April 2. Members and guests
The capacity crowd was spellbound as Kivi described will share traditions by bringing along one of their favorite
his encounters, anxieties, and struggles as an observant Jew side dishes or desserts to complete the dinner.
trying to work with the richest people in the world. In one L’dor V’dor, Beth Torah’s second seder, will take place
particularly touching story he described sitting at the head on April 9. The seder will connect the generations in a fun
table of a massive luncheon eating only the fruit, due to his and festive atmosphere by focusing on the inter-generational
kosher dietary restrictions. He was shocked to discover that tradition of passing down rituals and values to loved ones.
the CEO of the company and his wife had ordered exactly
the same food just so Kivi wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. It

became very clear to him that non-Jews have tremendous
respect for Jews when they aren’t afraid to respect themselves.
A particularly poignant message was when he told of
how he turned down the highly coveted position of being
the keynote speaker at a Microsoft Global Conference to be
attended by Bill Gates. Since the event was scheduled to take
place on Shabbos, he simply couldn’t do it. The conference
was moved to Sunday to accommodate his Jewish values.
When Bill Gates heard that Kivi had rejected them despite
being offered to name his own price, he leaned back in his
seat on his private plane and said: “I wonder what it must
feel like to own something that money can’t buy.”
The Friday Night LIVE presentation was followed by an
elegant spread of pinot and pastrami featuring pastrami latkes
and other delicacies. Local Happenings on page 9
