As Mike Durkee, executive director of WVRF has said, “The $125 for four anglers; $150 on and after
veterans’ stories are why we do what we do … when they return
home after fighting for our freedom, a new journey begins, often
fraught with hardships. We are grateful to the community for their
incredible generosity and support of these heroes after all they’ve
done for us.” The WVRF wishes to thank our community for its
overwhelming support for this special veterans’ event. In addition
to the funds raised, taking various veterans fishing means so much
to them; especially seeing the community come together to take
part in such a patriotic event. The WVRF is very grateful for all
of the support shown to our veterans over the past six years.
The Captains’ meeting on Friday, Aug. 16, will include
dinner, tent events and entertainment by one of the most
popular, talented and dance-friendly bands on the Treasure
Coast, Jupiter Trailer Trash. Gary Kohler, the leader of the
band, as well as all of its members, is honored to be able
to support our veterans and this event. The awards party
on Saturday night, Aug. 17, will include dinner, a silent
auction and music by the Mikey B band. Mike Babick
(“Mikey B”) is very passionate about supporting these
veterans and their families.
