Friends Of Jupiter Beach Cleanup
Report and Photos by Penny Sheltz
Friends of Jupiter Beach (FJB) have their monthly beach
cleanup on the first Saturday of each month. Volunteers
and FJB members are celebrating the 22nd anniversary of
keeping Jupiter Beach clean and dog-friendly. FJB has an
agreement with the Town of Jupiter to keep the beach clean
and a portion of the beach can be used by dog owners with
their dogs unleashed, as long as owners are responsible for
their well-behaved dogs. FJB provides bags for owners to
pick up their dog’s droppings.
At the latest cleanup, volunteers divided into teams to
clean the beach, and then returned for a continental breakfast
and beverages, a brief program and “thanks for coming” door
prizes. Volunteers have collected over 71,500 pounds of trash
and recyclables since the FJB beginning.
Executive Director Karen Gray welcomed volunteers
and Joan Ross treated everyone with her special baked
creations, donuts/coffee was provided by Dunkin’ Donuts and
bagels were provided by Einstein Bros. Each week people
or businesses sponsor the monthly cleanup. This month the
sponsor was Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming.
